This Week...
Feb 23 - Dr. Michael Rich, Pres. Rand Corporation
"Rand Corporation's Programs"

March 1 - Danielle McLaughlin
"Road to Recovery, Paratriathion Competitions and the Challenged Athletes Foundation"

March 8 - Chief Cairns or Chief Malais

On another glorious, beautiful, Westwood Village day, we were met at the door by greeters Jim Crane and Athena Jackson.

Athena Jackson led the pledge, followed by the invocation done by Tom Barron.

There were no visiting Rotarians. The head table was populated by our guests from Engineers Without Borders, Henry Phan, Maanya Condamoor, Brenda Anthier, and their president, Susan Brown. Also at the head table were representatives of the UCLA Rotaract, President Lisa Ding, Jumana Aljumaily, and Treasurer Scott Rassatt.

Announcements: The 60th annual Valentine’s Brunch at Lawry’s was a great success. It was fun and cheery as we celebrated our 83rd anniversary; we were founded at University High School on February 14, 1929. Attendees included Past Presidents Homer and Michael Newman, as well as Michael’s son Patrick; Past District Governor Bill and Judy Goodwyn; Past President Ed and his lovely wife Kathy Gauld; Past President, and current president of Rotary International Flying Rotarians, Peter and his lovely wife Shirley More.

Also attending were Past President Bob and Cindy Lusk; president of the auxiliary Pauline Harris; Dan Price; Eloise Siskel; Marjorie Downie; President Ed and Nina Jackson; Steve and Marsha Day; Arch C. Klump Society and Foundation Circle Member Peggy Bloomfield and her helper; President-Elect Dwight and Sook Heikkila; and our host, Secretary Aly and Aaron Shoji. Finally, Marie Rolf brought her family, Don, Frank and Patricia Hutsler. What a great party!

Thursday, February 23, is the 107th anniversary of Rotary International. We will be observing the date by feeding  the hungry. Call John Heidt for details.

Lastly, Colby Smith will be leading our first young professionals mixer on Monday.

Lisa Ding, President of the UCLA Rotaractors, shared a power point slide show detailing what projects that they have completed and which ones that they plan to complete this year. It is always a blessing when we see and work with them.

Engineers Without Borders shared a power point show highlighting their past and future projects. As with the Rotaractors, we look forward to helping them complete their projects.
