A letter from Queen Victoria will
be shown at the Westwood Village Rotary Club Auxiliary meeting
Wednesday, November 12, brought to the group by Victoria Steele of
UCLA.
Dr. Steele, head
of UCLA Library's Department of Special Collections, will speak about
the unique collection and also will show the group a letter from Abraham
Lincoln, a guest book from Isadora Duncan and an illustrated Civil War
diary.
Members and
guests -- all Rotarians and wives or husbands are invited -- will gather
at Sally and Homer Newman's Bel Air home, 1074 Chantilly Road, at 11:30
a.m. and lunch will be served at 12 noon. Make reservations with Margie
Downie, 310.394.4827 and $5 will be collected to help defray luncheon
expenses.
Dr. Steele is an
expert in art history with a specialty in fashion. She will be
accompanied by Amy Smith to help share information on the library and
its unique collection. |
